Swedish quality from Väderstad Components AB
Väderstad V-55 is a long-life, specially hardened Swedish steel aimed at optimising farm economics by enabling more time to be spent in the field and reducing wear part costs per hectare.
When developing steel for use in discs, the challenge lies in successfully combining a high level of hardness with a high shock resistance. The hardness provides durability, while the shock resistance give the disc its resistance to external forces out in the field.
Combining the two optimally results in a long working life under harsh conditions.
Väderstad V-55 pushes the boundaries The ‘V’ stands for Väderstad, while the number 55 represents the hardness measured in the unit ‘Rockwell C HRC’. This unique material structure makes it possible to increase the hardness from the industry standard HRC 47-48 right up to HRC 55, while still retaining a very high level of shock resistance. 55 Rockwell steel is also often used for knives, another application where hardness is essential.
Inhouse production Väderstad V-55 was developed in cooperation with the wholly owned Väderstad subsidiary, Väderstad components AB, and the Swedish steel manufacturer SSAB. Väderstad Components AB manufactures discs, tines and packer rings for all Väderstad machines in a completely automated process, ensuring consistently high quality.
Our inhouse production of wear parts is unique in the market and gives Väderstad complete control over quality. This reflects the same top-of-the-range product philosophy as has been adopted for all Väderstad products, which collectively guarantees the best value available on the market.
