How to check your machine
Inspect for optimal performance, trouble-free operation and identify issues before they turn into costly repairs. You should always check out your machine before you start the next season. For details about checkpoints and service intervals please read the Instruction manuals maintenance and service section. Always lubricate according to the lubrication chart.

Spirit rotors and recommendations
What we drill and the application rates we use have changed over time and will likely continue to do so. In response to this, we strive to develop our metering system to ensure optimal performance.
Below is a description of the different rotors and the application rates they are suitable for. Complete rotors can be purchased as spare parts, but it is also possible to buy just the smooth ring on the rape seed rotor or the central part of the other special rotor.
Grain roller For all normal rates of grains such as cereals and peas. Also suited for fertiliser. Feed rates from 80-100 kg/ha and upwards. Art. No: 154353.
Grass seed roller For various types of grass seed blends. Feed rates of approx. 10-60 kg/ha. Art. No: 160822.
Rapeseed roller For low seed rates of small seed products. Feed rates of approx. 2-12 kg/ha. Art. No: 179101.
Special rollers For low seed rates of large seed products (hybrid rye, maize, catch crop mixtures containing large seed products). Feed rates up to 80-100 kg/ha.
Special rollers For oil seed rape rates under 2 kg/ha. Note the position of the adapter ring, with the smooth side facing the other rings.
The inserts with numbers 1. No: 158153 and 2 No: 172428 can be bought separatly. They fit the roller we call the rapeseed roller. See how to unscrew in the exploded view above.

Your Väderstad machine is a high-quality high-tech machine. Like all technical equipment regular maintenance and good care is the basis for a trouble-free operation, and a good investment for the future.
If you experience a breakdown during an intense working period, every hour counts and the time your machine is down causes a lot of frustration and costs money. By carrying out proactive monitoring and preventive maintenance, a great step is taken to avoid situations like this.
After each season thoroughly wash the machine and for drills clean all parts in the seed feed systems. Check the status of wearing parts and follow the greasing and other maintenance intervals given in the instruction manual. During the season, regularly re-tighten joints and inspect for wear, excessive wear on joints may be an indication that the machine setup is not optimal.
Lubricate
It is essential that the machine is lubricated according to the intervals specified in the lubrication chart
Beside lubrication intervals:
- Always lubricate prior to and after winter storage
- Always lubricate after washing with high-pressure equipment
Clean
- Wash the machine with a high pressure washer
- For all drills clean inside the seed feed units and distributor heads with compressed air
- Clean electrical components with compressed air or by wiping them with a slightly dampened cloth
- Pay special attention to sections that are affected by fertiliser products
- Never rinse the bearings with a high-pressure water supply! It is important to grease the bearings after washing in order to remove any water that has remained behind
Inspect
- Inspect the wear parts. After a certain point of wear the parts are no longer bringing the result you expect from your Väderstad machine
- Regularly check that screws and bolts are tightly fitted
- Feel each disc to check bearing tolerance. If there is movement possible, change bearing. Bearings in the wheel tracks are subject to highest material stress.
- Inspect for wear in the joints that connect frame sections and hydraulic cylinder mountings. Especially on machines for tillage, excessive wear on joints and hydraulic cylinder mountings may be an indication that machine setup is not optimal. Information to reset to a basic setting can be found in the machine’s quick start instruction
Storage between seasons
Protect your equipment from the elements when it’s not used for longer periods.
The preferred storage location is inside a machine shed, if that is not possible at least cover the machine with some type of weather protection.
Make sure the machine is thoroughly cleaned before storage to prevent remaining seeds from attracting rodents which can cause damage. Remaining seeds inside seed hoses can also germinate and cause a blockage.
Protect machine parts with a bright finish, such as the such as hydraulic cylinder rods and wearing parts from corrosion and oxidation with corrosion protection. If a degreasing agent has been used, the waxy protective coating that is applied during manufacture to hydraulic couplings, galvanised bolts and other exposed places may have been dissolved. Restore the protective waxy coating by using Tectyl Dinitrol 1000 or Mercasol.
Why not take the opportunity to apply a touch-up of paint to scratched or corroded areas? Properly maintained equipment that looks good will command a higher trade-in value.
