SeedEye
SeedEye: Automatic seed rate control without need for calibration
Väderstad's SeedEye system revolutionises seeding by eliminating seed calibration and offering real-time seed counting for precise seeding. Additionally, it monitors for blockages, alerting you instantly to any disruptions in seed or fertiliser flow. This ensures optimal field efficiency and control, making SeedEye the ultimate tool for modern farming.
Automatic seed rate control
SeedEye is an automatic system that controls your seed rate in real-time. By counting each seed passing through the seed tubes, it provides you with full control over the exact number of seeds your seed drill distributes across your field.
No need for seed calibration
Equipping your next Väderstad seed drill with the unique SeedEye seed counting system means that you will never have to perform seed calibration again. This maximises your field efficiency and gives you full control over the seeding operation.
Blockage monitoring
SeedEye's real-time blockage monitoring ensures seamless seeding by promptly detecting and alerting to any obstructions. The system grants you complete control from the cab, enabling quick adjustments and maintaining operational efficiency.
Automatic seed counting and output adjustment
The SeedEye sensors are mounted on each tube of the seed drill. In the field, the SeedEye sensors accurately record the number of seeds passing through each individual seed tube.
By combining the seeding information with driving speed data from the seed drill's ground radar, the system automatically adjusts the output to maintain the selected seed rate.
With access to precise data, you can make informed decisions for increased efficiency and maximised results in crop production.
"The first year we had plenty of seeds left over after the season, but after counting the seeds in the field with SeedEye it showed that the seed rate was perfect. Now we order less seeds every year and that means we save money."
Frank Fuhrer, Germany
The most reliable measurement: seeds/m²
With SeedEye, your seed rate is set in terms of the number of seeds per square metre. Unlike the unit kg/ha, seeds/m² are not affected by seed type variations, such as changes in thousand grain weights and differences between seed batches. If your target rate is 303 seeds/m², SeedEye will deliver this consistently, regardless of these factors.
Simply inform the SeedEye system of the exact number of seeds you want drilled on your field, and SeedEye will make it happen.
With SeedEye, we move beyond weight-based measurements, such as kg/ha, and focus instead on the most crucial metric – the number of seeds on the field.
Example: SeedEye vs. Traditional system
The decision on the seed rate begins with a target plant population per m², such as 300 wheat plants/m². Adjustments are then made based on the germination rate of the selected seed type and potential field losses.
SeedEye (seeds/m²) SeedEye is immediately ready for use, allowing you to start seeding with your seed rate specified in seeds/m² – without the need for calibration. It consistently achieves the target and grants you complete control over your seed rate.
Traditional system (kg/ha)
In the traditional system, calculating the seed rate in kg/ha requires incorporating the estimated thousand grain weight (TGW) into the calculation. This introduces a risk to the measurement accuracy. For instance, if your seed bag's TGW does not align perfectly with the calculated average TGW, a deviation of merely 5-10 grams can significantly complicate determining the correct seed rate for manual calibration of your seed drill. Any variation in TGW poses a risk of missing the target seed rate.
"SeedEye means that we are able to use seeds per square metres, rather than having to weight and calibrate the seeds every time we change in seed variety or pull into a new field."
Scott Hoskin, UK
Real-time blockage monitoring while seeding
As SeedEye registers each individual seed and fertiliser passing through the tubes, it allows for the seeding process to be visualised in real-time.
Should a deviation, such as a blockage, occur, SeedEye immediately issues a warning, enabling quick resolution of any issues impacting the seeding operation.
From the cab, you gain complete control over the seeding operation through the iPad-based control system, Väderstad E-Control. Integrated with the ISOBUS Task Controller, it facilitates variable seed rates and sectional shut-off capabilities.
"Using the Väderstad SeedEye, I’m able to calculate my exact seed requirement in numbers of seeds per square metre. Thanks to this, I can take home the correct amount of seed and be sure that I’ve always got what I need."
Peter Malmström, Sweden
